A low interest rate is a good place to start when you are comparing loans. But the amount leaving your account every month deserves just as much attention.
You could find a lower rate and still face a repayment that takes too much out of your salary. A slightly higher rate spread over more months could leave you with a smaller instalment, although you may pay more interest altogether.
That is why Best Licensed Moneylender comes first on our list for borrowers who want to explore a low starting rate alongside more time to repay. Best advertises rates from 1.01% per month, with repayment options of up to 24 months, subject to assessment. EZ Loan comes second, standing out for its lower advertised starting rate of 0.82% per month.[1][2]
The difference becomes clearer when you put the repayments into dollars.
To explore another amount or repayment period, use our personal loan calculator. Treat the result as an estimate, not a loan offer.
We used publicly accessible information from lenders' websites, comparison platforms such as MoneySmart and SingSaver, and the Ministry of Law's Registry of Moneylenders. We considered advertised rates, repayment periods and branch access, with particular attention to how a loan could fit a monthly budget.[11][12][19]
The order reflects that combination of factors, rather than interest rate alone. Starting rates and published ranges help you shortlist lenders; the approved rate, fees and repayment schedule determine your own deal.
Website information was checked on 30 and 31 October 2026. The registered identities and locations below were checked against the Registry's list dated 1 October 2026.[12]
Best advertises interest from 1.01% per month for eligible applicants. That is below the 2% starting point in the published monthly ranges from Cash Direct and Cash Hub, two alternatives in this comparison.[1][3][18]
Our repayment options extend to 24 months, subject to assessment. For someone who needs to keep enough of their salary for ordinary living expenses, the combination is worth looking at.
Suppose you need S$5,000. You are comparing a 24-month schedule at Best's advertised starting rate with a 12-month schedule at EZ's advertised starting rate.
Using equal monthly payments on a reducing balance:
The longer schedule reduces the monthly payment by S$203.56 in this example. If your available budget is closer to S$250 than S$450 each month, that difference could determine which schedule you can manage.
There is a trade-off: the 24-month example costs S$385.05 more across all instalments, before fees. It gives you smaller monthly commitments, not a lower total price.
If both examples carried a separately paid S$500 administrative fee, their combined instalments and fees would be S$6,155.54 and S$5,770.49, respectively. The S$500 is a calculation assumption, not a quotation from either lender.
These examples use S$5,000 principal, equal end-of-month payments and interest on the reducing balance, without missed payments or early settlement. The starting rate and selected term must be confirmed together in your offer. Twelve months is the EZ example used here, not its verified maximum tenure. Totals use unrounded calculations; the final instalment may differ slightly.
Best works with MoneySmart, where our personal loan has its own product listing. The listing displays an interest rate of 12.12% per annum, together with fee and product information; Best's own website states the starting rate as 1.01% per month.[1][19]
You can read those details before contacting us, then bring your preferred amount and monthly budget into the conversation. Ask which repayment periods are available, what each would cost and how the fees affect the amount you receive.
Our registered office is at North Bridge Road. If you are weighing a low advertised starting rate against the need for a smaller monthly commitment, Best is where we suggest starting that discussion.[12]
EZ Loan advertises rates from 0.82% per month for eligible applicants, below Best's advertised 1.01%. It also appears in SingSaver's licensed-moneylender comparison, giving you another public source to consult alongside EZ's own product information.[2][11]
If you do not need a longer repayment period, EZ may be the better fit. In the S$5,000 example above, the 12-month schedule clears the loan sooner and costs less in total, provided you can manage the higher monthly payment.
Best comes out ahead on monthly payment in that example because the repayment is spread over twice as long. It is not because 1.01% is cheaper than 0.82%.
Ask EZ which terms it can offer you too. If the same S$5,000 were available at 0.82% over 24 months, the modelled payment would be approximately S$230.36, with instalments totalling S$5,528.53 before fees. On equal terms, the lower rate still produces a lower payment.
That is how to choose between the two: Best's longer-term option is useful if a shorter offer would stretch your budget; EZ deserves serious consideration if its approved rate and repayment schedule fit your needs.
EZ's registered branches are at Marina Square and Beach Road, so the required visit may also fit conveniently into your routine.[12]
Credit 21's personal-loan page says interest may start from 1% per month. It also states a maximum repayment tenure of 35 months, subject to approval. Both points are worth checking if you are comparing cost and monthly instalments.[16]
The advertised starting figure is slightly below Best's, and the published maximum term is longer. The question is whether Credit 21 will offer that rate and the period you need for your application.
Its registered premises are at International Plaza on Anson Road. If Tanjong Pagar is convenient, request a repayment schedule before deciding to visit or proceed.[12]
Confirm the approved rate, fee and available term together. A low starting figure is useful, but it is the complete offer that tells you whether the loan suits your budget.
1 Fullerton Credit's personal-loan page advertises rates from 1% to 4% and flexible payment terms. The headline does not specify the rate period, so confirm that basis before comparing it with another lender's explicitly monthly figure.[9]
Its registered location on Telok Ayer Street may be practical if you work in the area. That convenience matters, but it is worth finding out where your own rate falls within the range.[12]
A rate near the lower end and a suitable repayment period could make it competitive. A higher offer could change the decision. Ask for the monthly instalment and total payable rather than estimating your cost from the middle of the advertised range.
Cash Direct states that its interest generally ranges from 2% to 4% per month, with the exact rate set out in the loan agreement. Even the lower end is above Best's and EZ's advertised starting rates.[3]
That makes the cost comparison particularly useful. Before choosing Cash Direct because it is nearby, ask what you would repay for the same amount and period you are considering elsewhere.
Its registered premises are at J Connect on Jurong Gateway Road. For someone living or working around Jurong East, that may save travel and make an appointment easier.[12]
Our Best vs Cash Direct comparison looks more closely at cost, service and the application process.
If the assessed offer costs more, decide how much that convenience is worth to you. A familiar neighbourhood can be a good reason to shortlist a lender, but it should not hide a substantial difference in borrowing cost.
Cash Hub publishes interest rates of 2% to 4% per month, repayment periods of 1 to 24 months, and a 10% upfront administrative fee.[18]
This makes it a useful comparison with Best: both have a 24-month option to discuss, but Cash Hub's published range starts higher.
On the same S$5,000, 24-month reducing-balance model, 2% monthly gives a payment of approximately S$264.36, with instalments totalling S$6,344.53 before fees. Best's 1.01% example is S$235.65 monthly, totalling S$5,655.54 before fees. These remain modelled starting-rate comparisons, not approved offers.
Cash Hub's registered premises are on Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8. If that location suits you, compare its written offer with Best's, including the fee and the cash you will receive. A convenient visit and a suitable term are useful, but the rate still matters over the full repayment period.[12]
CreditMaster advertises repayment plans of up to 36 months. Its calculator also allows rate selections from 1% to 4%, but a calculator setting is not confirmation of the rate you will receive.[8]
If a long repayment period is your priority, ask for the rate available over that period. A longer loan at a higher rate can look manageable month to month while costing considerably more overall.
Ask directly: "What rate can you offer for the repayment period I need, and what will I pay altogether?" Do not assume that either the calculator's lowest rate or the legal maximum is your approved rate.
Its registered office is at Hong Lim Complex on Upper Cross Street. It may be convenient for a Chinatown visit, but compare the full schedule before committing to several years of repayments.[12]
Lending Bee has registered branches in Orchard, Bedok, Yishun and Jurong East. That spread of locations may make it easier to arrange an appointment near home or work.[12]
Read our Best vs Lending Bee comparison for a closer look at repayment questions, branch access and application features.
Its personal-loan page describes repayment terms of up to 35 months, subject to assessment. The same page explains the legal interest ceiling of 4% per month, rather than providing a numerical starting offer for this comparison.[17]
Ask for the assessed rate before treating the longer term as an advantage. If the offer costs more than another lender's, you can decide whether nearby access makes the difference worthwhile.
Until you have that offer, the price remains unknown. The legal ceiling tells you the maximum ordinary monthly interest permitted, not what Lending Bee will necessarily charge you.
Crawfort's registered business, CF Money Pte. Ltd., is at High Street Centre on North Bridge Road. That gives borrowers considering central locations another option to enquire with.[12]
Our Best vs Crawfort comparison explores the differences in process and support, alongside the terms to ask about.
Its personal-loan guide discusses repayment periods, fees and the importance of comparing complete offers. The pages reviewed do not provide a confirmed numerical starting offer to set beside Best's 1.01% or EZ's 0.82%.[5][14]
Before choosing on the strength of the application process or location, ask for the rate, fee and schedule available to you.
If the quote is competitive, convenience can help settle the choice. If it is higher, consider the extra cost across the whole term rather than only whether the first monthly payment looks manageable.
Raffles Credit's registered premises are on Circular Road. Its personal-loan page explains monthly repayment and says income and expenses are relevant when discussing rates.[10][12]
The page refers to the 4% interest cap, but does not give a numerical starting rate for a specific Raffles offer. That leaves a pricing question to resolve before you can compare it properly.[10]
If Circular Road is convenient, ask for the same loan amount and repayment period you have requested elsewhere. You can then see whether the offer is competitive or whether you would pay more for the location and arrangements you prefer.
Go into the conversation with your monthly budget and a request for the total payable. You do not need to decide before those figures are clear.
The midpoint of a 2% to 4% range is 3%. That is a possible planning scenario, not evidence that the lender's average customer pays 3%.
For S$5,000 repaid over 24 months using the same equal-payment reducing-balance model:
These totals exclude fees. The calculations show why you should ask where your offer falls within a range, rather than judge it from the lowest number alone.
The same principle applies when a lender publishes no starting rate. You can use 4% as a cautious budget scenario because it is the legal monthly interest ceiling, but it is not a quotation from that lender.[13]
A lender's rate, fee and repayment period work together. Choosing only the lowest advertised rate can overlook a monthly payment that is too high. Choosing only the smallest instalment can overlook the cost of paying for longer.
For borrowers who need smaller monthly commitments, Best's starting rate and repayment options of up to 24 months give us a clear reason to lead with that conversation. For someone who can repay sooner and qualifies for EZ's lower rate, EZ may offer the better fit.
The other lenders may suit your location or offer terms that work for your circumstances. Compare those terms before deciding that convenience is worth a higher price.
Start with Best's personal-loan information, then bring us the amount you need and the monthly payment you can manage after essential expenses. Ask us to explain the available rate and repayment periods, then compare the total cost before you choose.
No. The advertised starting rate is for eligible applicants, and the rate and repayment period must be confirmed together after assessment. The examples above show how the numbers work; your written offer determines the actual schedule.[1]
We have not established a 12-month maximum. Twelve months is the comparison scenario used here. Ask EZ for the repayment periods available with your assessed rate, particularly if you are comparing a longer Best offer.[2]
No. A lender's approved rate and repayment term depend on its assessment and offer. The legal maximum is not a standard price for a longer loan.[13]
Check the amount you receive after any permitted fee, the approved monthly rate, each payment and due date, the total payable and the early- or late-repayment terms. Verify the business and address against the current Registry before attending the required face-to-face identity check.[13][15]
